Missing Hunter in Renville Co Found Safe

A hunter that was reported missing Monday evening in Renville County was found safe about an hour later after a search was initiated.

The Sheriff’s Office says at about 5:50pm, they received a report that 70-year-old James Knutson and his dog had not returned home from pheasant hunting southeast of Sacred Heart.

After his vehicle was located, at about 6:25pm several gunshots were heard and believed to be Knutson signaling for assistance. About ten minutes later, another gunshot was heard which narrowed the search area and at about 6:55pm, Knutson and his dog were located and found to be in good health.
