MN Duluth picked to win NSIC Football

(Burnsville, MN) — Minnesota-Duluth has been chosen as the preseason favorite to win the N-S-I-C football championship this fall. The Bulldogs received eight first-place votes in a survey of league coaches who were not allowed to vote for their own team. Defending league champ Augustana received three first-place votes and was tabbed second. Minnesota State-Mankato was picked to finish third, garnering one first-place tally. Wayne State was selected fourth, followed by Bemidji State, which earned the final first-place vote. Minnesota State-Moorhead was sixth, followed by Winona State, Sioux Falls, Northern State, and Concordia-St. Paul. Southwest Minnesota State was chosen 11th, with Minot State and U-Mary rounding out the field. MSU-Moorhead junior quarterback Jack Strand of Bloomer, Wisconsin was chosen the N-S-I-C Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, while Bemidji State junior defensive end Marcus Hansen of Waseca is the N-S-I-C Preseason Defensive Player of the Year.
