MN FARM BUREAU LEADERS SATISFIED WITH RESULTS OF LEGISLATIVE SESSION

Leaders of the Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation say there were a number of positive outcomes for agriculture during the 2024 legislative session.  President Dan Glessing points to grant opportunities for farmers and processors – funding for fertilizer research and education programs, grants for soil health and manure equipment and support for beginning and emerging farmers among other pluses.  Glessing says they’re happy that two measures did NOT pass drainage disclosure requirements which he says would have been a “huge liability” to farmers selling land, and mandatory environment impact statements for any livestock facilities with over 10,000 animal units, which he says would have been another roadblock for obtaining permits.
