MnDOT Begins Snowplow Operator Training in Mankato

The Minnesota Department of Transportation is getting ready for winter with snowplow operator training in Mankato.

About 12 new operators from south-central Minnesota will participate in the two-week program from August 17th through the 27th.

Training will cover plow operation, safety, equipment maintenance and the proper use of road-treatment materials. Drivers will also maneuver trucks through a cone course and practice on area state highways.

MnDOT has more than 170 snowplow operators in south-central Minnesota. They operate 83 trucks and maintain 3,236 lane miles of state highways each winter. MnDOT
