More Scam Warnings

Local law enforcement has been warning residents of a plethora of scams making the rounds lately. The most recent comes from the McLeod County Sheriff’s Office.

The Sheriff’s Office says they’ve received an increased number of fraud and scam reports where individuals have been contacted by cell phone, email, and pop-up ads telling them they need to withdraw large amounts of cash from their bank accounts.

The suspects are alleging they work for Amazon, Microsoft, Social Security Administration, FDIC, and claim your account needs attention and request your money to resolve the problem.

Officials say none of those companies will contact you for payments in cash.
