Morris School Board Cuts
The Morris School Board will meet 5:30 p.m. tonight in the Morris Area High School Media Center. On the agenda: a motion to approve a three-year leave of absence to Elementary Teacher Emily Garcia, as recommended by the Personnel Committee; a motion to approve the 2025-26 Minnesota Healthcare Consortium Insurance Renewal with Midwest Health Benefit as the agent; and a motion to approve a resolution on proposing placement of Continuing Contract Teacher Mike Odello on Unrequested Leave of Absence.
There will also be a motion to approve the resolution reducing and discontinuing educational programs and positions to reduce the budget by $383,630. Included on the chopping block: reduce Grades 5 and 6 to three sections; eliminate the cheerleading program; eliminate the strength coach; discontinue both boys and girls hockey funding; reduce the Elementary secretary’s time; and reduce two football assistant coaches.
