Mother Charged in Fatal Rockford Crash

A Cologne woman is facing two felony charges after prosecutors say she allowed her unlicensed 15-year-old daughter to drive before a deadly crash in Rockford.

According to the criminal complaint, Charlotte Breton was riding in the front passenger seat when the van left the road and struck two women on a sidewalk May 3rd.

Fifty-five-year-old Laura Bachinski was killed. A second woman suffered serious injuries.

Breton is charged with aiding and abetting criminal vehicular homicide and aiding and abetting criminal vehicular operation resulting in substantial bodily harm. The charges are allegations, and Breton is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
