MPCA Says No Impact Statement Needed for Dayton Waste Expansion

The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency says a full environmental impact statement is not required for a proposed expansion of a waste transfer station in Dayton.

Curbside Waste is currently permitted to handle about 42-thousand cubic yards of yard waste each year. The company is seeking approval to transfer up to 500-thousand cubic yards of mixed municipal waste, construction and demolition debris, yard waste, organics and recycling annually.

The M-P-C-A reviewed public comments and determined the project’s environmental assessment meets state requirements. No waste processing or permanent storage is planned at the facility.

The environmental decision does not constitute final project approval. The expansion must still proceed through the permitting process.
