Empowering Communities, Celebrating Minnesota Locally

MUCH OF MINNESOTA UNDER FLOOD WATCH

A flood watch is in effect for much of Minnesota today (Monday) through Tuesday.  Over the past several weeks, we’ve seen a pretty active wet pattern with more in the forecast.  Brent Hewett is a meteorologist and he say the flood watch highlights that our soils are saturated.  A lot of lakes, streams, tributaries, reservoirs and ditches have filled up and are now at or above normal levels.  Hewett reminds you if you are driving and come upon a flooded road, turn around – don’t drown.  Hewett says the National Weather Service is closely monitoring the Minnesota and Crow Rivers, saying a lot of smaller streams and tributaries will likely see rises first before making it to the main stem rivers.
