Murray Appears to Gain Edge in Vikings Quarterback Competition

Kyler Murray appears to be gaining ground in the Minnesota Vikings’ competition for the starting quarterback job.

Recent training-camp tracking indicates Murray has received substantially more first-team work than J-J McCarthy. Some observers estimate Murray has taken roughly twice as many snaps with the starting offense.

Practice results have varied, however, with both quarterbacks producing strong and inconsistent sessions.

Head coach Kevin O’Connell has not named a starter. He has also cautioned that daily snap totals can change based on practice situations and the type of evaluation coaches need.

The competition is expected to continue through training camp and the preseason.
