Name Released in Fatal Kanabec Co Crash

Authorities have released the name of the driver that died in a two-vehicle crash in Kanabec County Tuesday afternoon near Quamba.

The State Patrol says the driver of a car, 59-year-old Kim Kolesar of Brook Park, died at the scene.

The driver of the other vehicle, 16-year-old Jacob Pickard of Hutchinson, was taken to Mora Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. His passenger, 61-year-old Timothy Simrell of Hutchinson, was not injured.

The Patrol says the car was eastbound on Highway 23. The other vehicle was westbound and attempting to pass a semi when they both swerved to the south shoulder and collided head-on, just after noon.
