Name Released of Stearns Co Drowning Victim

Authorities have released the name of the teen that drowned in Waite Park Tuesday afternoon.

He’s identified as 17-year-old Emmanuel Seward, Jr., of Brooklyn Center.

The Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office has determined the cause of death to be accidental drowning.

Authorities in Stearns County received a 911 call about a possible drowning at Quarry 11 inside Quarry Park and Nature Preserve in Waite Park Tuesday afternoon.

When emergency personnel arrived, witnesses said that the teen had jumped off a ten-foot-high cliff, into the water and never resurfaced. Witnesses attempted to dive into the water but were not able to locate him.

Seward was located later that evening in 31 feet of water.
