North Dakota Diesel Order Offers Farmers Tax Relief

North Dakota farmers are getting temporary state tax relief on diesel fuel during harvest.

Governor Kelly Armstrong has declared a diesel emergency and authorized licensed vehicles used in agricultural operations to burn red-dyed diesel on public roads.

That includes eligible vehicles hauling grain, livestock, feed and farm equipment. The change reduces the state fuel tax by 19 cents per gallon, from 23 cents to four cents.

The order took effect Tuesday and continues through November 30th. It does not change the federal diesel tax.
