Nuisance-Bear Complaints Reported

Officials with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources say violations for the week included gross overlimit and burning of prohibited materials.

Conservation Officer Coby Fontes in Warroad reports that formal charges have been filed against multiple people for crimes pertaining to taking a gross overlimit of pine marten during the December trapping season. Fontes also investigated a report of a dead bald eagle last week.

Conservation Officer Tony Hams in Warroad says violations encountered included burning of a fish house and furniture. He says enforcement action was also taken for angling with extra lines, possession of fillets on the ice, and unattended lines.

Conservation Officer Jeremy Woinarowicz in Thief River Falls received his first nuisance-bear complaints of the season. Meanwhile, Conservation Officer Ben Huener in Roseau says he also handled a nuisance-bear complaint in the Greenbush area.

Homeowners are reminded that eliminating outdoor food sources will greatly reduce nuisance-bear incidents.
