Officers Wounded in Exchange of Gunfire in Minnetonka

(Learfield News/Minnetonka, MN) — Two Hennepin County Sheriff’s deputies suffered non-life-threatening injuries in an exchange of gunfire while executing a warrant late Wednesday morning in Minnetonka near the intersection of I-494 and Excelsior Boulevard.

Authorities say one deputy was taken to the hospital and the other treated and released at the scene.

They were not giving specifics but said the incident was considered active but contained, and there’s no threat to the general public.

There’s no information yet about whether it was an arrest- or a search-warrant operation.

BCA Superintendent Drew Evans said, “We are in the very preliminary stages of this investigation. As was noted, this was part of executing a warrant for an individual who was wanted. We are still in the process of determining the identity of the deceased person.”
