Olivia PD Arrest Two Suspected of Fraud
Olivia Police arrested two men related to an ongoing phone and computer scam.
A resident reported that their computer had been compromised and that an individual had arranged for a courier to collect a substantial sum of cash. Unfortunately, the victim fell for the scam and handed over the money to the courier on February 11.
On Monday, the suspect contacted the victim again, demanding an additional $40,000 in cash, to be handed over upon the courier’s arrival.
Shortly after 1:00 PM the same day, the Olivia Police Department received another call reporting that the courier had arrived at the victim’s residence. Authorities responded and questioned the two and subsequently arrested them on suspicion of fraudulent activity.
Additionally, one of the suspects has been flagged with an immigration hold by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
