Operation Metro Surge Cost MN National Guard $5-Million

(Learfield News/Undated) — The Minnesota National Guard’s involvement in Operation Metro Surge is costing the state over five million dollars.

The executive director of the Minnesota Department of Military Affairs said the final figure is still being calculated.

Governor Tim Walz activated the Guard during Operation Metro Surge from January 8th to February 25th.

Walz said it was out of an abundance of caution following the killing of Renee Good.

National Guard members were asked to “protect life, preserve property and support the rights of all Minnesotans to assemble peacefully.”
