Padres End Twins’ Winning Streak with 6-2 Victory

Former Minnesota Twin Ty France homered and drove in three runs as San Diego defeated the Twins 6-to-2 Friday night.

France opened the scoring with a two-run homer in the first inning. Minnesota tied the game in the fourth, but the Padres answered with four runs in the fifth, including three consecutive R-B-I singles and a sacrifice fly from France.

San Diego starter Randy Vásquez allowed two runs on two hits over seven innings. The Padres retired Minnesota’s final 16 batters in order, ending the Twins’ winning streak in the opening game of the three-game series.
