Pearson’s Candy Plant to Close in September

Pearson’s Candy Company will permanently close its longtime St. Paul production plant this fall, eliminating about 80 jobs.

The closing is scheduled for September 28th. The company cited a lack of financial sustainability in a notice filed with the state.

Pearson’s traces its history to 1909 and has produced candy at its West Seventh Street plant since 1959. The company is best known for the Salted Nut Roll and Nut Goodie.

Pennsylvania-based Promise Confections, Pearson’s parent company, says it is looking for a strategic partner to continue producing certain key brands.
