Pleasant Start to October in Minnesota, With More Clouds and a Few Showers by Saturday

Minnesota opens the month of October with a pretty nice stretch of weather, as sunshine and seasonable temperatures settle in for much of the state Thursday and Friday. By Saturday, clouds increase and a few showers become possible, especially across northern and central Minnesota. Conditions will vary some by region, but overall the start of October looks mild and manageable for most of the state.

Northern Minnesota

Northern Minnesota gets a pleasant start to the period. In the Duluth area, Thursday brings partly sunny skies with a high near 66 degrees and a low around 40. Friday stays mostly sunny with a high near 62 and a low around 46. By Saturday, skies turn cloudier and a brief shower or two is possible, with a high near 56 and a low around 44. Northern Minnesota will also be dealing with some cooler nights, giving the region a more fall-like feel.

Central Minnesota

Central Minnesota will also see a solid start to October. Around St. Cloud, Thursday features a mix of clouds and sun with a high near 67 degrees and a low around 42. Friday stays mostly sunny with a high near 63 and a low around 45. Saturday turns more unsettled, with mostly cloudy skies and a brief shower or two possible. Highs will top out near 59 degrees, with lows around 44. Overall, central Minnesota should enjoy two decent days before a little more unsettled weather arrives Saturday.

Southern Minnesota

Southern Minnesota looks to be the steadiest part of the state through the three-day period. In the Rochester area, Thursday brings a mix of clouds and sun with a high near 65 degrees and a low around 45. Friday stays sunny with another high near 65 and a low around 47. Saturday remains mild, with mostly cloudy skies and a brief shower or two possible. Highs will stay near 65 degrees, with lows around 49. Southern Minnesota should hold onto the warmest temperatures of the three regions during this stretch.

Across Minnesota, Thursday and Friday look like the best days for outdoor plans, with mild temperatures and a good amount of sunshine. Saturday brings more clouds and at least a slight shower chance, especially from central Minnesota northward. Even so, the overall start to October looks pretty comfortable statewide.
