POLICE INVESTIGATING HUMANE SOCIETY INCIDENT
New Ulm police are investigating an incident at the Brown County Humane Society Saturday in which a man claimed to have found two dogs in rural Brown County and wanted to turn them in. A representative at the Humane Society told police that after the man left, they had learned of a microchip in one of the dogs that associated with a North Mankato resident. The man was contacted and admitted to using a false name when turning over the dogs and avoiding a surrender fee. Police sent a report to the New Ulm City Attorney’s Office for consideration of theft and mistreatment of animal charges.
