Polk County Fair opens in Fertile

The Polk County Fair opens today in Fertile, marking the fair’s 125th anniversary. The five-day fair runs through Sunday at the Polk County Fairgrounds, just east of Highway 32.

Opening day includes open class entries, the midway opening at 5 p.m., the PRCA Rodeo at 7, a chocolate contest, and karaoke tonight. Weekend highlights include Baja racing, Dock Dogs, a 5K walk/run, Sunday’s parade, the Super Demo Derby, and fireworks Sunday night.

This year’s parade theme is “Red, White, Blue, 125th,” with the parade set for 1 p.m. Sunday in Fertile.
