Prosecutors Seek Gang Restrictions Around Minnesota State Fair

Minnesota prosecutors are asking a Ramsey County judge to restrict members of two alleged gangs from gathering near the Minnesota State Fair.

Attorney General Keith Ellison and Ramsey County Attorney John Choi filed civil actions targeting groups prosecutors identify as Muddy and Ville. The filings allege members have been connected to violent incidents, including fights at previous state fairs.

The proposed injunctions would establish a safety zone covering the fairgrounds and nearby parking and transit areas. The restrictions are not currently in effect. Court hearings are scheduled for Thursday.

The Minnesota State Fair begins August 27th.
