‘Purple Rain’ 40th-anniversary screening this month at Target Center
The 40th-anniversary celebrations for Purple Rain are far from over. Prince fans will get together at the Target Center on July 27, 40 years to the day after the film’s original release, for a special screening of the iconic film.
Prince’s 1984 film will be shown at center court which will cost you $19.99, organizers announced. The arena-sized screening, put together by members of the Prince estate, will see the Target Center decked out in purple for the night.
In addition to seeing the film, and joining in what is likely to be a celebratory atmosphere, there will also be “historic memorabilia from the Purple Rain era,” the announcement says. The event will also feature Prince collaborators in some capacity, but representatives declined to say who will be involved or what they’ll be doing.
