Qualls and Lindell Debate Taxes, Paid Leave and Fraud

Republican candidates Kendall Qualls and Mike Lindell faced off in a debate ahead of Minnesota’s August 11 primary election.

The candidates discussed Minnesota’s paid family and medical leave program, state income taxes, immigration and government fraud.

House Speaker Lisa Demuth, the third major candidate in the Republican race, did not participate. Her campaign cited previously scheduled commitments.

Qualls received the Minnesota Republican Party endorsement in May, while Lindell has been endorsed by President Donald Trump. Demuth continued her campaign after the state party released candidates from an earlier pledge to honor the convention endorsement.

The winner of the August primary will advance to the November general election.
