Raphael T. Malecha

Raphael T. Malecha, age 88 of rural Madison Lake, passed away on October 4, 2024 in Mankato.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00am Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Marysburg with burial at the church cemetery. Raphael Thomas was born February 23, 1936 in Dakota County, MN to Thomas and Mary (Valek) Malecha. He enlisted in the US Army in 1954, and was honorably discharged in 1957. Raphael was united in marriage to Eva Kabes on August 5, 1961 in New Prague. Together, they settled on a small farm outside Madison Lake and he worked various jobs until operating his own radiator repair business, Raphael’s Radiator and Welding in Mankato. He retired in 1999. He was an active member of Immaculate Conception, as well as the Knights of Columbus, the Cleveland American Legion, the Riverbend Promenaders and Spinning Wheel square dance clubs. He enjoyed square dancing, farming, and spending time with his family.

Left to remember Raphael are his wife of 63 years, Eva; children: Norman (Renee), Wayne, Ramona, and Nathan; nine grandchildren: David Marxen, Alex Marxen, Sara Marxen, Kandise Marxen, Jasmin Malecha, Nicholas Malecha, Gabrielle Malecha, Carolyn Malecha, and Michelle Malecha-Neiding; 11 great grandchildren; sister: Marian Dohmen and Bernodotte Whipkey; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and three siblings: Leonard Malecha, Eugene Malecha, and Theresa Perry.
