Renewable Natural Gas to be Generated Near Litchfield
(Learfield News/Minneapolis, MN) — CenterPoint Energy is partnering with Vanguard Renewables to bring locally produced renewable natural gas to Minnesota customers.
The gas will be generated from food and farm waste at a new facility near Litchfield in Meeker County.
Officials say the project supports year-round energy needs while reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
CenterPoint says this is part of its five-year innovation plan under Minnesota’s Natural Gas Innovation Act, aiming to cut carbon emissions by up to 30 percent by 2035.
