Rhoden Wins South Dakota Republican Runoff
Governor Larry Rhoden has won South Dakota’s Republican gubernatorial runoff, defeating Aberdeen businessman Toby Doeden.
Unofficial results show Rhoden received 83,582 votes, compared with 34,430 for Doeden. All 650 precincts have reported.
The election was South Dakota’s first-ever gubernatorial runoff. Statewide turnout was just under 36 percent, with more than 118,000 ballots cast.
Rhoden advances to the November general election, where he will face Democratic nominee Dan Ahlers.
