Richard Donald Grossman, son of Don and Shirley (Pashen) Grossman, was born May 27, 1950, in Morris, MN. He grew up on the family farm outside of Chokio, MN and graduated from Chokio High School in 1968. He then joined the Air Force and served from 1968-1972. Rick met his future wife, Barb Myers, on the Ellsworth Air Force Base where he was stationed. The couple was married on November 14, 1971, and welcomed their son, Jaime, the following summer. The couple moved to Moorhead, MN for Rick to finish his schooling before moving to South Dakota. Rick worked as a park ranger in the Black Hills National Forest, and then as a ranch hand in the Black Hills. The family moved back to MN in 1976. He spent years farming until the family moved into Morris and he began working at Brother’s Industries/Wilkens Industries He began there as a welder and then became shop manager where he stayed until he retired in 2015.

Born with a love for the outdoors, Rick found his true joy in the wilderness, where he spent countless hours hunting, fishing, and embracing the beauty of nature. He was an avid hunter, renowned for his skill and passion, particularly when bow hunting bear. No season passed without Rick taking to the lakes, rivers, and forests, always in pursuit of the perfect catch or the thrill of the hunt.

But Rick’s love for the outdoors was matched only by his love for people. His garage was more than just a workspace—it was a gathering place. Friends from all over would drop by, eager to share a beer, swap stories, and talk about hunting and fishing. Rick’s warmth, generosity, and unwavering friendship made him a pillar of the community, someone who was always ready with a helping hand or a listening ear.

Rick leaves behind a legacy of laughter, camaraderie, and an enduring love for the natural world. His spirit will forever live on in the memories of the many lives he touched, the stories shared around campfires, and the echoes of laughter in his beloved garage.
