Richard “Rick” Francis Almich

Richard “Rick” Francis Almich, age 71 of Le Sueur, died on Friday, February 27, 2026 at
Regency Hospital in Golden Valley, MN.  Memorial Mass will be on Saturday, March 7,
2026, 11:00 a.m. at St. Anne’s Church in Le Sueur, MN.  Visitation will be on Friday,
March 6, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. ~ 7:00 p.m. at the Kolden Funeral Home in Le Sueur,
MN.  Visitation will continue on Saturday Morning at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. ~
10:45 a.m., we will then process to St. Anne’s Church for the 11:00 a.m. Mass.  Burial to
follow immediately at Mound Cemetery, Le Sueur, MN.  Following burial, lunch at St.
Anne’s School, Le Sueur, MN.  Memorials are preferred.
Rick was born on December 9, 1954 in St. Peter, MN to Howard and Bev (Felmlee)
Almich.  He grew up in Le Sueur, attending Le Sueur Schools, wrestling for Le Sueur
High School and graduating from Le Sueur High School in 1973.  He then attended St.
Cloud State University where he graduated with honors with a degree in Public
Administration in 1977.  While in college, he spent many summers working for Green
Giant in Le Sueur.  He worked with the city of Columbia Heights for a short time before
becoming the city clerk in Le Sueur in 1978.  Rick married Kristine “Kit” Schwartz in
Gaylord, MN on June 12, 1981.  In November of 1985 he was promoted to City
Administrator of Le Sueur, a position he held for over 30 years.  After retiring as the Le
Sueur City Administrator, he worked part time in various communities in southern
Minnesota as an interim city administrator.   Rick was a member of the Le Sueur Fire
Department for many years prior to his retirement and was also a member of the Le
Sueur Rotary. He truly enjoyed engaging with and serving the Le Sueur community
throughout his life. He especially loved raising alpacas on the farm with his wife Kit.
He is survived by his wife Kristine “Kit” of Le Sueur, step-children, Maureen Thompson
of Shakopee, MN and Sean Mulvaney of West Des Moines, Iowa.  Mother, Bev Almich
of Le Sueur, MN and siblings, Julie (Peter) Miller of Le Sueur, MN, Steve Almich of Le
Sueur, MN, David (Juliann) Almich of Gaylord, MN, Sue (Tom) Doherty of Le Center,
MN, Jean (Ray) Reesen of Apple Valley, MN and Robert “Bob” (Sara) Almich of
Alexandria, MN.  Many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.  He is
preceded in death by his father, Howard Almich in 2009.
