River Levels Dropping in Southern Minnesota
(Chanhassen, MN) — All of the rivers flooding in southern Minnesota are on their way down.
Craig Schmidt a hydrologist with the National Weather Service in Chanhassen says we’ve had a few days without rainfall, and it’s helped everything start to recede.
He says river levels are however still very high and quite a few are still above flood stage.
On the Minnesota River, the crest was moving through Jordan Thursday afternoon and will crest within a tenth-of-a-foot of the record level there. And then that will start to work its way down to St. Paul over the weekend.
Schmidt says the rain forecast for Thursday and Friday isn’t enough to affect river levels.
