RIVERS FALLING, COTTONWOOD STREET IN NEW ULM OPENS

River levels in the area continue to fall but river flood warnings continue.  The Cottonwood River at New Ulm measured 13.2 feet as of 10 Saturday morning.  It is expected to fall below flood stage of 11 feet Tuesday morning.  The falling river has enabled crews to open Cottonwood Street which has been closed for several days due to water running over the bridge.  The Cottonwood River above Springfield measured at 25.3 feet as of 9:30 Saturday morning.  The river is expected to fall below flood stage early Wednesday.  Flood stage is 22 feet.  The Minnesota River at New Ulm measured  801.3 feet as of 9:45 Saturday.  Flood stage is 800 feet and the river is forecast to fall below that  Monday evening.  River flood warnings continue for the Minnesota River at Morton, Mankato, Henderson, Jordan and Montevideo as well as the Redwood River at Redwood Falls.
