Riverview Dairy May look to Expand
A Morris area dairy is planning to expand its dairy business into North Dakota.
The Forum newspaper of Fargo-Moorhead said that Riverview Dairy of rural Morris is seeking to open two dairy farms in North Dakota.
The plan is to have a dairy herd of 25 thousand cattle in Hillsboro, and 12 thousand 500 dairy cattle at Wahpeton. The Forum said permits are being sought, and meetings are being held in the area to explain what the farms would mean to the economies of these small towns.
Riverview Farms started near Morris in the 1930s, but it did not expand into the dairy industry until the 1990s.
It has dairy farms in Minnesota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Arizona, and New Mexico. The 20-22 farm census revealed North Dakota had just over 14 hundred dairy cows, so the paper said this would really add to dairy cows in the state.
