ROBERT “BOB” ANDREW RIVERS, JR.

ROBERT “BOB” ANDREW RIVERS, JR. of Le Sueur, formerly of Montgomery, died in the early morning hours of Thursday, February 12, 2026 at Oak Terrace Senior Living in Le Sueur at the age of 79 years, 6 months, and 29 days.

Bob was born in Miami, Florida on July 14, 1946, to parents Robert Andrew, Sr. and Elizabeth Ann (Jones) Rivers.  He was the first of five brothers to earn the rank of Eagle Scout in Troop 24 in Miami Springs, Florida.  He graduated from high school in Hialeah, Florida before serving his country with the United States Air Force where he was trained in helicopter and jet mechanics.  His education carried him into his working years where he maintained commercial passenger jets for Eastern, Northwest, and Delta Airlines for many years.  Near the end of his career he began working for Metro Transit in the Twin Cities as a bus mechanic.  Bob was married to Monika Jean Moran on July 14, 2004 on the paddleboat Andiamo near Stillwater, MN, and had a second ceremony at Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Oakdale.  They made their home in Montgomery for many years before moving to Le Sueur.  Bob enjoyed deep sea fishing as a younger man and was always on the lookout for an opportunity to indulge in a meal of fresh oysters.  He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, and he was proud that he had built a helicopter from the ground up, as well as learned to fly.  Bob was a great man who will be deeply missed, but his family is glad that now he gets to continue to fly high.

Bob is survived by his wife, Monika of Le Sueur; a brother, Steve (Marlene) Rivers of Port St. Lucie, FL; three sisters-in-law, Cathy Rivers, Marylou Rivers, and Jenny Rivers; a cousin, Judy Davis; a step-son; six step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by both of his parents; and three brothers, Tim, Mike, and Ken Rivers.

Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, February 19, 2026 at the Le Center Chapel of Schoenbauer Funeral Home, and will continue for one hour before the Mass at the church on Friday.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 20, 2026 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Le Center, with Father Matthew Northenscold officiating. Military honors presented by the Le Center area Honor Guard. Interment will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Le Center.  schoenbauerfuneralhome.com
