Robert “Rob” Guy Padfield was born on May 7, 1961, in Webster, South Dakota, a son of Arthur and Audrey (Matthews) Padfield. He grew up in Groton where he was baptized and confirmed in his faith. Growing up, his best friends were Bobby, Jerry, and Bob. They always hung out together on the weekends, went to movies, partied, drove around at night, and went to games together. Rob has six siblings: Linda, Rose, Judy, Karen, Lea Ann, and John. He lived in a big house, and shared bedrooms with his sibling’s.
Rob met his wife, Marilu Marie Kvam, while playing softball with her brother. They were united in marriage at Drywood Lutheran Church on November 14, 1981, they had a big wedding, and Rob wore a white tuxedo! They drove to South Dakota for a couple days for their honeymoon.
While in school, Rob played sports and played trombone in band. He enjoyed going to band competitions. In high school, he worked at a grocery store and as a lifeguard at the pool. He then went into electronics for a bit before starting his career in carpentry. He also spent some time as a bartender and a restaurant cook. Rob’s last job was at Divine House.
In the past, Rob enjoyed pheasant and deer hunting, as well as fishing. He almost always had a hunting dog. He played golf and softball. Sports have always been important in his life. His favorite professional teams are the Vikings, Twins, and Timberwolves. He also watches high school tournaments and likes reading the sports section of the paper. When he was younger, Rob built small cabinets. He likes playing games with his nieces and nephews, and he also enjoyed playing cards and bingo.
Rob loved rock and roll music the most, but he liked all kinds, including country. He enjoyed watching The Price is Right, Wheel of Fortune, and The Masked Singer on TV. He also enjoyed old black and white shows, like Gunsmoke, as well as movies. Seeing his family or talking to them on the phone was very special to him.
