Rox Beat Willmar, Clinch Regular-Season Series

The St. Cloud Rox defeated the Willmar Stingers 8-to-4 Friday night to clinch the regular-season series between the Northwoods League rivals.

St. Cloud took the lead with two runs in the third inning and added four more in the sixth. Jackson Akin delivered an R-B-I single during the four-run rally.

Rox infielder Tanner Recchio stole his 68th base of the season, setting a new Northwoods League single-season record.

Brandon Pelechowicz pitched six-and-a-third innings for St. Cloud, allowing three earned runs. The Rox improved to 35-and-21, while Willmar fell to 30-and-26.

The teams meet again tonight at 7:05 in Willmar for their final regular-season matchup.
