Saturday Rain, Then a Milder Sunday for Much of Minnesota
September 25, 2026 | Three-day forecast: Friday, September 25–Sunday, September 27
Minnesota’s weekend forecast brings plenty of clouds, a cooler and wetter Saturday, and improving conditions Sunday. The National Weather Service expects Saturday’s showers to be more widespread across western Minnesota, with temperatures recovering into the upper 60s in many communities Sunday.
Northern Minnesota
Friday: Clouds will dominate around Thief River Falls and Bemidji, while Duluth gets some breaks of sunshine. Afternoon highs will reach approximately 64 to 67 degrees in those communities.
Saturday: Occasional rain and drizzle return to northwestern and north-central Minnesota. Thief River Falls and Bemidji will also be breezy, with highs around 61 to 62 degrees. Duluth’s daytime forecast is quieter, with cloudy skies and a high near 67. The National Weather Service expects another round of light rain across the northwest from Friday night into Saturday night.
Sunday: Clouds linger, but temperatures improve across the northwest. Highs should reach around 70 in Thief River Falls, 69 in Bemidji and 67 in Duluth.
Central Minnesota
Friday: Morris, Willmar and St. Cloud will have a mostly cloudy day, with highs in the upper 60s. Temperatures overnight will remain relatively mild, generally in the upper 50s to around 60.
Saturday: Keep rain gear handy. Occasional rain and drizzle will hold highs near 62 to 63 degrees, with breezy morning conditions around Morris and Willmar. The National Weather Service forecasts roughly one-quarter to one-half inch of rain across western Minnesota, with lighter amounts farther east. An isolated rumble of thunder is possible in western areas.
Sunday: The outlook turns generally drier, although clouds remain. Highs should rebound to about 71 in Morris, 69 in Willmar and 67 in St. Cloud.
Southern Minnesota
Friday: Mostly cloudy skies will keep temperatures in the mid-to-upper 60s. Forecast highs include 66 in Marshall, 69 in Mankato and 68 in Rochester.
Saturday: Occasional rain and drizzle return, with highs falling to approximately 61 to 64 degrees. Rochester’s rain chances are focused on the afternoon, while the National Weather Service expects light rain to remain possible across southeastern Minnesota into Saturday night.
Sunday: Mostly cloudy skies continue, but the daytime forecast looks quieter. Temperatures should reach around 70 in Marshall and 65 in Mankato and Rochester.
For outdoor plans, Saturday carries the greatest chance for weather interruptions. Sunday offers a generally drier window across central and southern Minnesota, though a return to widespread sunshine is not expected.
