Saturday Showers Give Way to Brighter Skies Across Minnesota

October 3, 2026 | Three-day forecast: Saturday, October 3–Monday, October 5

Minnesota starts the weekend with scattered showers and gusty winds before drier weather returns Sunday and Monday. The National Weather Service expects Saturday’s rain to move from west to east, with a few rumbles of thunder possible across parts of central and southern Minnesota. Rainfall in those areas should generally remain light, around one-tenth to one-quarter inch.

Northern Minnesota

Saturday: Clouds and passing showers will keep temperatures relatively cool. Thief River Falls and Bemidji should reach 62 degrees, while Duluth tops out near 60. Overnight lows fall to around 40 in Thief River Falls and Bemidji and 45 in Duluth.

Sunday: Sunshine returns, with highs around 63 in Thief River Falls and Duluth and 61 in Bemidji. Duluth could have a breezy morning before conditions become more comfortable later in the day.

Sunday night brings a frost concern. The National Weather Service expects temperatures to fall into the 28-to-32-degree range in many inland Northland locations, creating frost and freezing conditions into Monday morning. Areas immediately along Lake Superior may remain warmer. Sensitive outdoor plants should be protected before the colder air settles in.

Monday: A mix of sunshine and clouds continues. Highs should reach 62 in Thief River Falls, 60 in Bemidji and 59 in Duluth. Afternoon breezes increase around Thief River Falls, but the daytime forecasts for these communities do not highlight additional rain.

Central Minnesota

Saturday: Some early sunshine gives way to more clouds and scattered showers. Morris and Willmar should reach 65 degrees, with St. Cloud near 64. Breezy conditions will make a jacket useful for outdoor activities, especially during the morning. Overnight lows settle into the lower 40s.

Sunday: Conditions improve with partly to mostly sunny skies. Highs reach approximately 67 in Morris and St. Cloud and 66 in Willmar. Sunday night turns chilly, with lows around 39 in Morris, 41 in Willmar and 37 in St. Cloud.

Monday: The mainly dry pattern continues. Morris and Willmar will see partial sunshine, while St. Cloud looks mostly sunny. Highs should reach 66 in Morris, 65 in Willmar and 63 in St. Cloud, with afternoon breezes developing around Morris.

Southern Minnesota

Saturday: Sunshine will break through at times, but showers could interrupt outdoor plans. Marshall and New Ulm should reach 68 degrees, while Rochester reaches about 65. New Ulm and Rochester’s shower chances are focused on the afternoon.

Wind will also be a factor. The National Weather Service expects gusts exceeding 40 miles per hour in parts of southwestern Minnesota, with gusts generally around 25 to 35 miles per hour elsewhere in its central and southern Minnesota forecast area.

Sunday: Partly sunny skies return, with highs near 68 in Marshall and New Ulm and 65 in Rochester. Overnight temperatures fall to around 41 in Marshall and New Ulm and 44 in Rochester.

Monday: Sunshine becomes more prominent across southwestern and southeastern Minnesota. Marshall should reach 70 degrees with mostly sunny, breezy conditions. New Ulm reaches around 68 under partly sunny skies, while Rochester climbs to 66 with mostly sunny weather.
