SCAM TEXT MESSAGE WARNING
The Olivia Police Department is warning you to beware of an ongoing scam involving fraudulent text messages claiming to be related to toll road payments. These scams are designed to steal personal information. Police say people have reported receiving text messages that appear to be official notifications about unpaid tolls. Some these scams lead people to believe the message was sent by MnDOT while others may appear to be for the EZ Pass lane. The messages often include urgent language and a link to a website urging recipients to click on the link to make a payment or verify information. Officials warn you to not click on any links included in the messages or share any personal or financial information. If you believe you have been a victim of this scam, you are asked to contact your local police department.
