Schneider Lifts Rangers to Overtime Win Over Wild

ST. PAUL, MN – Braden Schneider secured a 3-2 overtime victory for the New York Rangers against the Minnesota Wild on Thursday night, snapping the Rangers’ four-game losing streak. Schneider fired a backhander past goalie Filip Gustavsson, finding the top-right corner just 1:51 into overtime.

Vincent Trocheck and Jonny Brodzinski also scored for New York, while Igor Shesterkin made 26 saves. On the other side, Marcus Johansson and Frederick Gaudreau netted power-play goals for Minnesota in the third period, with Gustavsson stopping 28 shots. Despite the loss, the Wild remain atop the Western Conference wild-card standings.

Trocheck put the Rangers on the board at 6:45 of the second period with his 18th goal of the season. Johansson evened the score on the power play at 3:55 of the third, but Brodzinski quickly responded at 6:39 to put New York ahead again. Gaudreau tied it once more at 8:42, sending the game to overtime.

New York continues its push for an Eastern Conference wild-card spot, while Minnesota is in the midst of a seven-game homestand, part of a stretch with 10 home games in an 11-game span.

The Rangers dominated faceoffs, winning 35 of 61.
