Division 1 State Legion Tournament:
Excelsior Blue is the State Champion! The Blue team defeated Wayzata 8 to 2. Both teams advance to the Central Plains Regional, which will start Thursday in Mandan, North Dakota.
Division 2 State Legion Tournament:
St Cloud is the State Champ! St Cloud defeated Ada 18 to 8. third place goes to Parkers Prairie, they defeated Lesueur/Henderson 5 to 3.
Jr Legion Division One State Tournament:
White Bear Lake comes through the losers bracket to win the title. White Bear Lake defeated Alexandria Black 8 to 4 and 13 to 2.
Region 2C Tournament:
Winners bracket games-Hanska defeats Stark 9 to 8, Springfield was an 8 to 7 winner over Milroy.
Elimination Games-Gibbon stays alive with a 6 to 5 win over Wabaaso, St James defeats Sacred Heart 6 to 5, Essig was a 13 to 2 winner over Searles and Sleepy Eye defeats Fairfax 9 to 1. The tournament continues on Saturday
Seattle defeats Twins:
The Minnesota Twins rallied from a 6-0 deficit to tie yesterday’s game in Seattle 6-6 in the top of the ninth inning, only to lose the contest on a walk-off Mariners’ single in the bottom of the ninth inning 7-6. Colt Emerson cracked the game-winning single to right field. The M’s took the final two games of the series with one-run victories in each matchup. The 56-57 Twins are now four games out of first place in the American League Central, Minnesota is off tonight and visits Kansas City tomorrow night to open a three-game series against the 46-67 Royals, who have dropped four straight games and lost seven of their past ten contests. Tomorrow’s game starts at 6:40 P-M.
Lynx win 10th straight:
The Minnesota Lynx extended their winning streak to ten games in a row after topping the Indiana Fever 108-100 yesterday at the Target Center. Minnesota rookie point guard Olivia Miles led the Lynx in scoring with 28 points, pouring in 23 before halftime. The Lynx are now 25 and 6, that is the W-N-B-A’s best record. The Lynx aim for their 11th straight victory when they host the Los Angeles Sparks on Thursday.
