Section 1A:
New Ulm wins a pair, 9 to 4 over Faribault and 5 to 3 over Rochestor to advance to the State Tournament. The Brewers play Saturday, 4pm versus Minnetonka in Chaska.
3B:
Jordan defeats Webster 3 to 0 and receive a bye for the first weekend of the State Tournament. Lesueur defeats Union Hill 11 to 0 to advance and will play Nisswa at 4pm, Sunday in Jordan.
7B:
Delano wins the Region, Young America takes second and will play Pierz, Saturday at 6:30pm in Jordan. Plato finishes in third place and will plat Webster on Sunday, 4pm in Shakopee.
8B:
Bird island wins a pair over Willmar and Marshall to make the tournament. The Frogs will play Kimball, Saturday at 4pm in Jordan.
2C:
Hanska is the champ with a 3 to 2 win over Courtland and Leavenworth defeats Granite Falls 6 to 1. Leavenworth will play Richmond, Sunday at 11am in Chaska. Courtland will play Starbuck, Saturday at 6:30pm in Shakopee. Hanska will play Waterville, Saturday 1:30pm in Shakopee.
7C:
Glencoe is the champi0n, the Brewers will play Howard Lake, Sunday 11am in Shakopee. Brownton finishes in third place and will play Waseca, Friday night at 7:30pm in Jordan.
12C:
St Peter is the champion. The Saints open tournament play with Luxemburg, Saturday 4pm in New Prague.
Twins swept by the Phillies:
The Minnesota Twins let a 5-0 lead slip away and lost to the Philadelphia Phillies at Target Field yesterday 7-5. The visiting Phils swept the three-game set, taking the final two games in Minneapolis after beating the Twins at the Field of Dreams Ballpark on Thursday. Minnesota infielder Brooks Lee smashed a first-inning grand slam before Kody Clemens belted a solo shot in the third inning to give the Twins a 5-0 lead. The Phillies scored four runs in the sixth inning and three more in the eighth to notch the win. Andrew Morris was charged with the loss after allowing three runs on four hits and a walk. The 60-65 Twins have dropped four of their last five and will host the Atlanta Braves for a three-game series that starts tonight in downtown Minneapolis. Coverage begins at 6pm on KNUJ and SAM 107.3.
Vikings open pre-season with a win:
The Minnesota Vikings held on to beat the New York Giants 13-10 in the N-F-L preseason opener for both clubs on Saturday in New Jersey. But the win came at a cost for the Vikes. Defensive back Jamal Adams will miss the 2026 season after suffering a right knee injury in the contest. Minnesota used a 10-0 third quarter to secure the win. The Vikings will host the Baltimore Ravens on Saturday at noon at U-S Bank Stadium.
