Twins open series with win:

The Minnesota Twins blew out the Detroit Tigers 11-1 to open a three-game series at Target Field last night. Minnesota catcher Ryan Jeffers homered twice and starting pitcher Taj Bradley worked seven solid innings to earn his tenth win of the season. The Twins scored runs in each of the final five innings. The 66-72 Twins have drawn to within three-and-a-half games of the final A-L Wild Card spot. Detroit dipped to 63-74. Game two of the set is tonight at 6:40 P-M in downtown Minneapolis. Coverage begins at 6pm on KNUJ and SAM 107.3.

Volleyball:

New Ulm defeats Hutchinson in straight sets, as did Eden Valley/Watkins over St James, Lesueur/Henderson over Waterville/Elysian/Morristown and Tri City United over Fairmont. LCWM defeats Alden/Conger 3 to 1, Cedar Mountain wins in four sets over ACGC and Nicollet had a hard fought five set win over Lester Prairie.

Tennis:

Hutchinson defeats New Ulm 7 to 0, YME was a 7 to 0 winner over River Valley, Sibley East defeats Belle Plaine 4 to 3 and Lesueur/Henderson was a 4 to 3 winner over Tri City United.
