SEC Seeks Daktronics Records in NBA Sponsorship Case

Federal securities regulators are seeking information from Brookings-based Daktronics about a reported sponsorship agreement involving N-B-A star Kawhi Leonard.

Acting Chief Financial Officer Howard Atkins says both the Securities and Exchange Commission and the N-B-A requested information from the company. Daktronics says it is cooperating.

The N-B-A separately found that the Los Angeles Clippers violated salary-cap rules by arranging endorsement opportunities between Leonard and four team sponsors, including Daktronics.

The league says the Clippers encouraged those agreements by offering business to the participating companies. Daktronics designed and manufactured video displays for the Clippers’ Intuit Dome.
