Second Man Sentenced in Renville Co Overdose Death
OLIVIA — A Shakopee man has been sentenced to five years in prison after pleading guilty to aiding and abetting murder for his role in facilitating a drug sale that eventually led to the overdose death of a woman in Renville County.
The West Central Tribune reports 28-year-old Joshua Lee Hill pleaded guilty Dec. 5 to the single charge of aiding and abetting third-degree murder and was sentenced the same day.
The sentence is a downward departure from the presumed sentence in state guidelines due to the fact that Hill ultimately played a minor role in the alleged drug purchase.
According to the criminal complaint, Hill was among the three suspects tied to a drug purchase days before authorities responded to an unresponsive woman on Oct. 25, 2023, in the city of Morton.
