Severe Injury Reported Following Pursuit

A Grand Forks area man was severely injured in a single vehicle motorcycle accident on Monday east of Emerado. 

According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, Cooper Augsten (29) was injured when the eastbound 2024 Kawasaki he was driving crashed on US 2 at around mile marker 344. 

According to the Highway Patrol report, a Trooper clocked the motorcycle at 97 miles per hour at around 10:15pm and attempted to catch up to the motorcycle to stop it for the speeding violation. When the Trooper activated his emergency red and blue lights to stop the motorcycle, the motorcycle drifted off the roadway into the median and rolled. 

Augsten was taken to Altru Hospital and treated for severe injuries. The crash remains under investigation currently by the NDHP.
