St. Paul Mother Dies After Saving Daughter From Duplex Fire

A St. Paul mother is being remembered for sacrificing her life to save her three-year-old daughter from a burning duplex.

Family members say 38-year-old Bonnie Pierce initially escaped the August 22nd fire but went back inside after realizing her daughter Grace remained trapped.

Firefighters reportedly found Pierce shielding the child with her body. Pierce died at a hospital two days later. Her family says Grace is expected to make a full recovery.

Another daughter escaped through a window. The cause of the fire remains under investigation
