ST. PETER POLICE RELEASE INFORMATION ON THURSDAY INCIDENT

The St. Peter Police Department has released details on the incident Thursday night in which a cop was shot.  Police say the incident started in Mankato when police attempted a traffic stop but the driver refused, fleeing northbound on Highway 169 into St. Peter.  The driver went into a home on Bunker Lane resulting in officers barricading and evacuating the area.  Multiple law enforcement agencies responded and multiple shots were fired, striking an officer in the arm.  The officer was taken to River’s Edge Hospital and Clinic and then airlifted to a Twin Cities hospital where he is listed in stable condition.  Officers eventually entered the home and found the suspect dead.  The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is assisting St. Peter police in the investigation.  St. Peter Police say the BCA will release more information as it becomes available.
