St. Thomas Womens Hockey coach Resigns

(St. Paul, MN) — Joel Johnson is out as the women’s hockey coach at the the University of St. Thomas. School officials say Johnson resigned following an incident Friday night after the Tommies’ loss at Bemidji State. Johnson sat out Saturday’s game and submitted his resignation on Tuesday. Assistant Bethany Brausen is serving an interim head coach at St. Thomas. Johnson was named Tommies head coach in 2021 and the led their transition to Division 1 hockey. The White Bear Lake native coach the U-S women’s hockey team to a silver medal in the 2022 Olympics.
