State Amateur Scores From Sunday

State Amateur Baseball Tournament:
Class A-Stockman edges Rochestor 6 to 5 and Elk River shuts out Burnsville 1 to 0.
Class B-Cold Spring defeats Foley 7 to 3, Buckman moves to the second weekend with a 6 to 4 win over Red Wing, Nisswa knocks Lesueur out of the tournament with a 3 to 1 win and Plato defeats Webster 5 to 3.
Class C-Richmond scores five runs in the eighth to break open a close game and defeats Leavenworth 8 to 1, Glencoe comes from behind to defeat Howard Lake 4 to 2, Cologne eliminates Morris 7 to 3, Dumant defeats Luverne 3 to 1, Atwater ten runs Nimrod 10 to 0, Atwater plays Hanska Sunday afternoon in Jordan and Pierz defeats Elrosa 10 to 5.
Weekend number two begins Friday night.
Twins Swept by Padres:
The Padres scored seven runs in their final three innings at the plate and completed a three-game interleague sweep of the Minnesota Twins with an 8-1 victory yesterday in San Diego. Twins infielder Brooks Lee hit a solo homer in the fifth inning for the only Minnesota run. It was Lee’s 20th round-tripper of the year. Kody Funderburk took the loss out of the bullpen after allowing two runs in the sixth inning. Minnesota falls to 63-68 and dropped to third in the American League Central Division. The Twins are two games out of the final A-L Wild Card position. The Athletics host the Twins tonight to start a three-game series in Sacramento. Listen for coverage on KNUJ and SAM 107.3.
Lynx Host Golden State tonight:
The Minnesota Lynx can clinch the number-one overall seed for the W-N-B-A postseason with a home win tonight against Golden State at the Target Center. Minnesota has won six straight games, including a 77-66 win at Golden State last Wednesday. The Lynx played without star Napheesa Collier in Friday’s 94-84 win over Washington. Collier was out as a maintenance night and is expected to play tonight. However, the Lynx will not have guard Courtney Williams tonight. The visiting Valkyries have the league’s second-best record at 25-11. Tip time is set for 7 P-M in downtown Minneapolis.
